Multiseason Recoveries of Organic and Inorganic Nitrogen-15 in Tropical Cropping Systems
Durval Dourado-Neto,David S. Powlson,R. Abu Bakar,Osny Oliveira Santos Bacchi,M. V. Basanta,P. Thi Cong,G. Keerthisinghe,M. Ismaili,S. M. Rahman,Klaus Reichardt,M. S. A. Safwat,R. Sangakkara,Luís Carlos Timm,J. Y. Wang,Erick Zagal,C. van Kessel +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, a 15N-recovery experiment was conducted in 13 diverse tropical agroecosystems and the objectives were to determine the total recovery of one single 15N application of inorganic or organic N during three to six growing seasons and to establish whether the losses of N are governed by universal principles.
Effect of 26-Oxygenosterols from Ganoderma lucidum and Their Activity as Cholesterol Synthesis Inhibitors
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which converts 24,25-dihydrolanosterol to cholesterol, can be inhibited by the 26-oxygenosterols from G. lucidum, which could lead to novel therapeutic agents that lower blood cholesterol.

Application of direct analysis in real time ionization–mass spectrometry (DART–MS) in chicken meat metabolomics aiming at the retrospective control of feed fraud
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used ambient mass spectrometry employing a direct analysis in real-time (DART) ion source coupled to a medium-high resolution/accurate mass time-of-flight mass spectrum analyzer (TOFMS) for differentiation between chicken fed by feed that contained 5-8% (w/w) of chicken bone meal (a banned component) and those representing a reference group, i.e. grown otherwise under the same conditions.

Formation of N-pyroglutamyl peptides from N-Glu and N-Gln precursors in Aplysia neurons.
Rebecca W. Garden,Tatiana P. Moroz,Juliann M. Gleeson,Philip D. Floyd,Lingjun Li,Stanislav S. Rubakhin,Jonathan V. Sweedler +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization with time-of-flight mass spectrometry was used to examine the formation of N-pyroglutamate (pGlu) in single, identified neurons from Aplysia.
