Majority-consistent preference orderings
13
TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the construction of sets of preferences that give consistent outcomes under majority voting and give a characterisation of the preferences generated through these agreements and make observations on the relation between the sizes of such sets as the number of alternatives increases.

Abstract: This paper considers the construction of sets of preferences that give consistent outcomes under majority voting Fishburn [7] shows that by combining the concepts of single-peaked and single-troughed preferences (which are themselves examples of value restriction) it is possible to provide a simple description of the extent of agreement between individuals that allows the construction of sets that are as large as those previously known (for fewer than 7 alternatives) and larger than those previously known (for 7 or more alternatives) This paper gives a characterisation of the preferences generated through these agreements and makes observations on the relation between the sizes of such sets as the number of alternatives increases

Chapter 4 Voting procedures
TL;DR: This work discusses broad classes of social choice functions as well as special cases such as plurality rule, approval voting, and Borda's point-count method for voting procedures for two-candidate elections.

Topological social choice
TL;DR: Recently, Baryshnikov used the topological approach to demonstrate that Arrow's impossibility theorem can be reformulated in terms of the non-contractibility of spheres and the results are discussed in a self-contained way.

Social choice theory and the "Centre de Mathématique Sociale". Some historical notes
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe some research directions in social choice and aggregation theory led at the "Centre de Mathematique Sociale" since the fifties, and sketch a thematic history by considering the following questions about the voting paradox: What is it? How is it overcome? Why does it occur?

Condorcet domains and distributive lattices
TL;DR: Condorcet domains are sets of linear orders where Condorcet's effect can never occur as mentioned in this paper, and they cover distributive sublattices of the permutoedre lattice and can be obtained from a maximal chain of this lattice.

Maximal Condorcet Domains A Further Progress Report
Clemens Puppe,Arkadii Slinko +1 more
TL;DR: Maximal Condorcet domains are sets of preference orders such that the majority relation is acyclic. The paper surveys recent developments, provides new results, and offers conjectures on unsolved problems.

On the Rationale of Group Decision-making
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a type of reasoning which will contribute to the development of the theory of tradeunions, the firm, and the cartel; and provide the basis for a theory of the equilibrium distribution of taxation or of public expenditure.

Low cerebrospinal fluid glutamate in schizophrenic patients and a new hypothesis on schizophrenia
TL;DR: Preliminary evidence indicates that this reduced glutamate content is not due to neuroleptic treatment, and is interpreted by the hypothesis that there is a dysfunction or degeneration of glutamatergic neurons in schizophrenia.
