Model Dimeric Manganese(IV) Complexes Featuring Terminal Tris-hydroxotetraazaadamantane and Various Bridging Ligands.
Dejan Premužić,Małgorzata Hołyńska,Andrew Ozarowski,Clemens Pietzonka,Alexander Roseborough,Sebastian A. Stoian +5 more
TL;DR: The computational investigation of 1-3 suggests that metals sites which have an increased +3 character and are supported by redox noninnocent 4,6,10-trihydroxo-3,5,7-trimethyl-1,4, 6, 10-tetraazaadamantane ligands can be readily oxidized to yield a NO-based radical.

Antisymmetric Exchange in a Real Copper Triangular Complex.
TL;DR: In this paper , the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) was analyzed in a tri-copper (II) complex, and it was shown that the multispin model Hamiltonian is appropriate for trinuclear (and likely for higher nuclearity) complexes, and that the correct application of the permutation relationship is necessary to explain the outcomes of the ab initio calculations.
A multireference coupled-electron pair approximation combined with complete-active space perturbation theory in local pair-natural orbital framework.
TL;DR: A hybrid theory of the CASPT2 and a multireference variant of the Coupled-Electron Pair Approximation (CEPA) which is a class of high level correlation theory, which requires highly complex derivations and coding and is largely facilitated with an automatic expression and code generation technique.

A Combined Spin-Flip and IP/EA Approach for Handling Spin and Spatial Degeneracies: Application to Double Exchange Systems.
TL;DR: This work demonstrates the efficacy of the n-spin-flip ionization potential/electron affinity method by applying it to the strongly correlated N2+, as well as several double exchange systems, and demonstrates that when these systems are well-described by a double exchange model Hamiltonian, only 1SF-IP/EA is required to extract the double exchange parameters and accurately predict energies for the low-spin states.

The M06 suite of density functionals for main group thermochemistry, thermochemical kinetics, noncovalent interactions, excited states, and transition elements: two new functionals and systematic testing of four M06-class functionals and 12 other functionals
Yan Zhao,Donald G. Truhlar +1 more
TL;DR: The M06-2X meta-exchange correlation function is proposed in this paper, which is parametrized including both transition metals and nonmetals, and is a high-non-locality functional with double the amount of nonlocal exchange.
Self-interaction correction to density-functional approximations for many-electron systems
John P. Perdew,Alex Zunger +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the self-interaction correction (SIC) of any density functional for the ground-state energy is discussed. But the exact density functional is strictly selfinteraction-free (i.e., orbitals demonstrably do not selfinteract), but many approximations to it, including the local spin-density (LSD) approximation for exchange and correlation, are not.

Possible high Tc superconductivity in the Ba-La-Cu-O system
TL;DR: In this paper, Ba−La−Cu−O system, with the composition BaxLa5−xCu5O5(3−y) have been prepared in polycrystalline form, and samples with x=1 and 0.75,y>0, annealed below 900°C under reducing conditions, consist of three phases, one of them a perovskite-like mixed-valent copper compound.

Stuart A. Wolf,Stuart A. Wolf,David D. Awschalom,Robert A. Buhrman,J. M. Daughton,S. von Molnar,Michael L. Roukes,Almadena Chtchelkanova,Daryl Treger +8 more
TL;DR: This review describes a new paradigm of electronics based on the spin degree of freedom of the electron, which has the potential advantages of nonvolatility, increased data processing speed, decreased electric power consumption, and increased integration densities compared with conventional semiconductor devices.

Spintronics: Fundamentals and applications
TL;DR: Spintronics, or spin electronics, involves the study of active control and manipulation of spin degrees of freedom in solid-state systems as discussed by the authors, where the primary focus is on the basic physical principles underlying the generation of carrier spin polarization, spin dynamics, and spin-polarized transport.
