TL;DR: This paper investigated the distribution and function of gender in Tunisian Arabic and found that the interpretation of gender is conditioned by its syntactic environment, more specifically by the class of the base noun and the function and interpretation of any node or abstract morpheme (e.g., number) that is parasitic of the n head hosting the class feature.
