Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens for focusing light on a light-receiving surface of a light-receiving element, which can be made small in size and length while securing desired directivity and necessary quantity of incident light and also can cope in the case where dimensions are limited at the time of mounting the lens on a substrate or the like. SOLUTION: This lens is positioned as opposite to a light-receiving surface 1 of a light-receiving element, so that a first curved surface 11 of the lens has a first curvature x in its central area and a second curved surface 12 thereof has a second curvature y in its outer peripheral area. The curvatures x and y are set, so that the first curved surface 11 can secure directivity and the second curved surface 12 can secure a quantity of incident light. Further, dimensions of these curved surfaces to the tip end are set to be within a range of height limit when mounting is done to the substrate or the like is mo.
