Multilinguality, education and harmony
TL;DR: The authors argue that human linguistic behaviour is marked by fluidity rather than rigid compartmentalisation. But they also argue that language conceptualized as multilinguality is constitutive of being human and may be a potential site for negotiating conflict and exploring paths of harmony in education.

Dynamics of orthographic standardization in Jamaican Creole and Nigerian Pidgin

TL;DR: The authors identify the dynamics of orthographic standardization for each of the two Pidgin/Creole varieties using corpora of CMC data (in particular e-mails and discussion forums posts), discuss the differential results for the two varieties based on the different sociolinguistic situations of Jamaica and Nigeria, and point to possible consequences for language planning in the two countries.
