Abstract: Introduction to Magnetic Materials, 2nd Edition covers the basics of magnetic quantities, magnetic devices, and materials used in practice. While retaining much of the original, this revision now covers SQUID and alternating gradient magnetometers, magnetic force microscope, Kerr effect, amorphous alloys, rare-earth magnets, SI Units alongside cgs units, and other up-to-date topics. In addition, the authors have added an entirely new chapter on information materials. The text presents materials at the practical rather than theoretical level, allowing for a physical, quantitative, measurement-based understanding of magnetism among readers, be they professional engineers or graduate-level students.

Controlled lateral anisotropy in correlated manganite heterostructures by interface-engineered oxygen octahedral coupling
Zhaoliang Liao,Mark Huijben,Zhicheng Zhong,Nicolas Gauquelin,S. Macke,S. Macke,Robert J. Green,Robert J. Green,S. Van Aert,Jo Verbeeck,G. Van Tendeloo,Karsten Held,George A. Sawatzky,Gertjan Koster,Guus Rijnders +14 more
TL;DR: Here, it is demonstrated how to manipulate magnetic and electronic anisotropic properties in manganite heterostructures by engineering the oxygen network on the unit-cell level by atomic-scale design of the oxygen octahedral rotation.
Ordered ferrimagnetic form of ferrihydrite reveals links among structure, composition, and magnetism
F. Marc Michel,Vidal Barrón,José Torrent,María del Puerto Morales,Carlos J. Serna,Jean-François Boily,Qingsong Liu,Andrea Ambrosini,A. Cristina Cismasu,Gordon E. Brown +9 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the atomic pair distribution function and complementary physicochemical and magnetic data indicate formation of an intermediate ferrihydrite phase of larger particle size with few defects, more structural relaxation and electron spin ordering, and pronounced ferrimagnetism relative to its disordered ferriHydrite precursor.

Shape-controlled synthesis and shape-induced texture of MnFe2O4 nanoparticles.
TL;DR: Monodisperse MnFe2O4 nanoparticles with cubelike and polyhedron shapes were synthesized by reaction of Fe(acac)3 and Mn(acAC)2 with 1,2-hexadecanediol, oleic acid, and oleylamine, leading to nanoparticle superlattices.

The challenge of ceramic/metal microcomposites and nanocomposites
TL;DR: In this paper, the exotic effects of metal particles embedded into matrix ceramics due to the dissimilar properties of the components, percolation laws, and the nature of the interfaces are discussed.

A simple route to synthesize nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) nanoparticles using egg white
TL;DR: In this paper, NiFe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple and cost-effective method using Ni and Fe nitrates and freshly extracted egg white (ovalbumin) in an aqueous medium.
