A new look at exploiting data parallelism in embedded systems
Hillery C. Hunter,Jaime H. Moreno +1 more
- 30 Oct 2003
TL;DR: While some algorithms exhibit data-level parallelism suited to packed vector computation, it is shown that other kernels are most efficiently scheduled with more flexible vector models, which motivates exploration of non-traditional processor architectures for the embedded domain.
Network within a network approach to create a scalable high-radix router microarchitecture
Jung Ho Ahn,Sungwoo Choo,John Kim +2 more
- 25 Feb 2012
TL;DR: This work proposes a bilateral butterfly switch organization that has fewer crossbars and half the number of global wires compared to the topology-agnostic folded-Clos switch while achieving better low-load latency and equivalent saturation throughput.

A System-Level Framework for Analytical and Empirical Reliability Exploration of STT-MRAM Caches
TL;DR: The analysis reveals that STT-MRAM cache vulnerability is highly workload-dependent and varies by orders of magnitude in different cache access patterns and moreover, error rates are differently affected by PVs.
CACF: A Novel Circuit Architecture Co-optimization Framework for Improving Performance, Reliability and Energy of ReRAM-based Main Memory System
Yang Zhang,Dan Feng,Wei Tong,Yu Hua,Jingning Liu,Zhipeng Tan,Chengning Wang,Bing Wu,Zheng Li,Xu Gaoxiang +9 more
TL;DR: A novel circuit architecture co-optimization framework for improving the performance, reliability, and energy use of ReRAM-based main memory system, called CACF, and significantly improves the reliability of Re RAM-based memory systems.

Hole Mobility in Germanium as a Function of Substrate and Channel Orientation, Strain, Doping, and Temperature
Craig Riddet,Jeremy R. Watling,K. H. Chan,Evan H. C. Parker,Terry E. Whall,David R. Leadley,Asen Asenov +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, hole transport in germanium layers on "virtual" substrates using a full band Monte Carlo simulation approach, considering alternate virtual substrate and channel orientations and including the impact of the corresponding biaxial strain, doping, and lattice temperature.

Phase-engineered low-resistance contacts for ultrathin MoS2 transistors.
Rajesh Kappera,Damien Voiry,Sibel Ebru Yalcin,Brittany Branch,Gautam Gupta,Aditya D. Mohite,Manish Chhowalla +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the metallic 1T phase of MoS2 can be locally induced on semiconducting 2H phase nanosheets, thus decreasing contact resistances to 200-300 Ω μm at zero gate bias.

Scalable high performance main memory system using phase-change memory technology
Moinuddin K. Qureshi,Vijayalakshmi Srinivasan,Jude A. Rivers +2 more
- 20 Jun 2009
TL;DR: This paper analyzes a PCM-based hybrid main memory system using an architecture level model of PCM and proposes simple organizational and management solutions of the hybrid memory that reduces the write traffic to PCM, boosting its lifetime from 3 years to 9.7 years.

Double-Gate Tunnel FET With High- $\kappa$ Gate Dielectric
Kathy Boucart,Adrian M. Ionescu +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a double-gate tunnel field effect transistor (DG tunnel FET) with a high-kappa gate dielectric was proposed and validated using realistic design parameters, showing an on-current as high as 0.23 mA for a gate voltage of 1.8 V, an off-current of less than 1 fA (neglecting gate leakage), an improved average sub-threshold swing of 57 mV/dec, and a minimum point slope of 11 mV /dec.

Single-crystal metallic nanowires and metal/semiconductor nanowire heterostructures
TL;DR: The fabrication of nickel silicide/silicon (NiSi/Si) nanowire heterostructures with atomically sharp metal–semiconductor interfaces is demonstrated and field-effect transistors based on those heterostructure in which the source–drain contacts are defined by the metallic NiSi nanowires regions are produced.
