Machine learning models for prediction of co-occurrence of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases: a retrospective cohort study
Ahmad Shaker Abdalrada,Jemal H. Abawajy,Tahsien Ali Hussein Al-Quraishi,Sheikh Mohammed Shariful Islam +3 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a two-stage machine learning (ML) model was used to predict the co-occurrence of DM and CVD in patients attending a screening program. But, the prediction accuracy of the ML model was only 94.09%, sensitivity and specificity was only 95.8%.
Evaluation of a Pharmacist-Managed Diabetes Program in a Primary Care Setting Within an Integrated Health Care System.
Amanda W. Benedict,Michele M. Spence,John L. Sie,Helen A. Chin,Chi D. Ngo,Jennifer F. Salmingo,Andrew T. Vidaurreta,Nazia Rashid +7 more
TL;DR: Type 2 diabetes therapy management by clinical pharmacists was associated with a greater percentage of patients achieving the HEDIS goal of A1C < 8.0%, reaching the A1c goal faster, and a greater A1 c reduction from baseline at 3 and 6 months of follow-up compared with patients receiving usual care.

Elevation of plasma 1-deoxy-sphingolipids in type 2 diabetes mellitus: a susceptibility to neuropathy?
Maike F. Dohrn,Alaa Othman,Sarah Hirshman,Heiko Bode,Irina Alecu,E Fähndrich,W Karges,Joachim Weis,Jörg B. Schulz,Thorsten Hornemann,Kristl G. Claeys +10 more
TL;DR: There is increasing evidence that sphingolipids play a role in insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and whether neurotoxic 1‐deoxy‐sphingolIPids are elevated in DSPN patients' plasma and whether levels correlate to the DSPn stage were examined.

Liver-targeted delivery of insulin-loaded nanoparticles via enterohepatic circulation of bile acids.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that using enterohepatic circulation of bile acids is an effective strategy for oral delivery of insulin using nanoparticles produced from cholic acid and quaternary ammonium modified chitosan derivative and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose phthalate.

Is the ACE2 Overexpression a Risk Factor for COVID-19 Infection?
TL;DR: In the recent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, a higher proportion of patients with severe disease were found in older persons with comorbidities, related to the use of drugs that can increase the cellular expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) that has been recognized as target to which the virus bind to cells.
