Abstract: This paper introduces a modeling method for intelligent model features for engineering modeling in industrial CAD/CAM systems. The related research started from earlier results in development of integrated feature based product modeling. An active model is proposed that integrates knowledge from modeling procedures, generic part models and engineers. Paper discusses the scenario of intelligent modeling based engineering. Then key methods for application of computational Intelligence in computer model based engineering systems are detailed including knowledge driven models as well as areas of their application. Next, behavior based models with intelligent content involving specifications and knowledge for the design processes are emphasized. Finally, an active modeling is proposed and possibilities for its application are outlined.

Multilayer feedforward networks are universal approximators
TL;DR: It is rigorously established that standard multilayer feedforward networks with as few as one hidden layer using arbitrary squashing functions are capable of approximating any Borel measurable function from one finite dimensional space to another to any desired degree of accuracy, provided sufficiently many hidden units are available.

Kolmogorov's theorem and multilayer neural networks
TL;DR: From a direct proof of the universal approximation capabilities of perceptron type networks with two hidden layers, estimates of numbers of hidden units are derived based on properties of the function being approximation and the accuracy of its approximation.

Fuzzy logic controllers are universal approximators
Juan Castro
- 01 Apr 1995
TL;DR: A fundamental theoretical question on why fuzzy control has such a good performance for a wide variety of practical problems is considered, and it is proved that for each fixed fuzzy logic belonging to a wide class of fuzzy logics, the fuzzy logic control systems using these two and any method of defuzzification are capable of approximating any real continuous function on a compact set to arbitrary accuracy.
