Abstract: An integrated tractor-implement model was developed in an upper level undergraduate/graduate level course The model development and analysis takes 2-3 laboratory periods and provides a means of synthesizing engine, transmission, traction, ballasting, draft, and vehicle performance knowledge in a problems-solving context The resulting model allows for virtual experiments to increase understanding of force, torque, power, traction, and tractor-implement matching Accompanied with a field experience, this exercise reinforces tractor-implement performance understanding as well as problem solving and computing skills This project reinforces model development and could be applicable to both engineering and non-engineering courses Sensitivity to key variables and parameters is a valuable aspect of the modeling exercise
