Abstract: An operation of an iris filter is carried out on an original image signal representing an image, and the degree of centralization of gradients of the original image signal with respect to a picture element is thereby calculated, each of picture elements constituting the image being taken as the picture element. An image portion, which is associated with a high degree of centralization, in the image is detected in accordance with the calculated degree of centralization. Image emphasis processing is then selectively carried out on the detected image portion. Alternatively, a morphology operation is carried out on an original image signal Dorg by using a multiply structure element Bi and a scale factor lambda , and a morphology signal Dmor is thereby obtained. The morphology signal Dmor represents whether each of picture elements constituting the image is or is not the one corresponding to an image portion, at which the original image signal Dorg fluctuates in a spatially narrower range than the multiply structure element Bi. Image emphasis processing is then carried out on the original image signal Dorg and in accordance with the morphology signal Dmor.

Space-optimized texture maps
TL;DR: A new texture optimization algorithm based on the reduction of the physical space allotted to the texture image is proposed, which optimizes the use of texture space by computing a warping function for the image and new texture coordinates.

- 02 Apr 2001
TL;DR: In this article, a method for improving disease diagnosis using contrast enhancement presentation is proposed, which consists of providing an input digital diagnostic image, applying a decomposition filter bank to the input digital image, constructing a tone scale curve from the input image and applying said scale curve to the image to produce a tone-scaled image, generating the contrast weight control signals from the image by extracting the high contrast edge signals at the coarse scale.

Zero-crossings of a wavelet transform
TL;DR: An alternative projection algorithm is described that reconstructs a signal from azero-crossing representation, which is stabilized by keeping the value of the wavelet transform integral between each pair of consecutive zero-crossings.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for processing a radiation image in an image recording system is described. But the method is not suitable for the processing of the detected output, and the emphasis coefficient may be varied with either the original image signal Sorg or the unsharp mask signal Sus, where Sorg is the original signal detected by the detector, β is an emphasis coefficient, and Sus is an unsharp signal signal corresponding to a super low spatial frequency at every scanning point.
