Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate image data for evaluating the reproducibility of image structure independent of a direction, image structure considering a frequency characteristic of a natural image and image structure corresponding to a histogram characteristic of the pixel value without measuring an amount corresponding to a line spread function (LSF) of an image in a digital image input/output system. SOLUTION: An image data generation method is provided with: a two-dimensional random number image generation step for generating image data based on two-dimensional random numbers; a Fourier transform step for performing frequency conversion of the image data; a power modulation step for performing power modulation so that a power spectrum of the frequency-converted image data becomes a decreasing function of a spatial frequency; and a reverse Fourier transform step for generating the image data of real space by applying reverse Fourier transform to the power-modulated image data.
