Degaussing of Write Heads in Perpendicular Magnetic Recording
Boris Livshitz,J. S. Goldberg +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce the idea of degaussing of perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) heads, the approach generally accepted by the magnetic recording industry, and discuss basic theoretical aspects of the process, including a simplified approach based on write current turnoff and an advanced method involving a sequence of write pulses of opposite polarities and decaying amplitude.

Barkhausen Effect: A Stick--Slip Motion in a Random Medium\
TL;DR: In this article, a one-dimensional model for the Barkhausen effect is considered and it is shown that the velocity of the limiting motion is positive almost everywhere in the model.

Excess Loss Localization on the Hysteresis Curve
Adriano Alex de Almeida,Laura Spinelli Pinheiro Perassa,Daniel Luiz Rodrigues,Thomas Seiji Pascoto Nishikawa,Fernando José Gomes Landgraf,Sebastião da Costa Paolinelli,Ramon Valls Martins +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, two alloys of nonoriented electrical steel, with 2.45 and 3.3%Si, respectively, were characterized in an Epstein frame and the Hysteresis curves for total, quasi-static and parasitic losses were plotted and overlapped to identify the region where the anomalous loss happens.

An efficient numerical scheme for the FE-approximation of magnetic stray fields in infinite domains
TL;DR: In this paper , a finite element procedure for the approximation of open boundary problems for applications in magnetostatics is proposed, which is not subject to any restrictions with regard to the topology of the exterior space.
