Abstract: MUTIAH KHARISMA ALENTA. Hemoglobin from Cow Blood Waste as Combustion Additive on Gasoline: Emission Reduction of Motor Vehicle Gases. Supervised by ARMI WULANAWATI and FACHRURRAZIE. Motorized vehicles produce 85% of all air pollutants in Indonesia. Motorized vehicle emissions produce various types of pollutants. Hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) are toxic gas compounds formed due to incomplete combustion in the motor work process. Nitrogen oxides are formed at high temperature on the vehicle’s engine. Additives are added to fuel to produce environmentally friendly exhaust emissions in motorized vehicles by increasing oxygen (O2) consumption. Oxygen is abundant in the blood, especially in hemoglobin. This research was conducted to utilize hemoglobin from cow blood waste as an exhaust emission-reducing additive. These hemoglobin were mixed with methanol by 0.1% (b/v) at maceration time 2, 3, and 4 days. The emissions test of HC, CO, NOx, and CO2 gases resulted consecutive in emissions reduction of 61% , 72%, 78% and 35% on the 3rd day maceration.
