Abstract: The programmable vertex shader and fragment shader are the sign of the new generation graphic processing unit(GPU) that brings new special effects and increases the quality of image. Also, the programmable graphics hardware expands the algorithms of direct volume rendering;new rendering algorithms based on texture are presented. These algorithms use hardware accelerated 3D texture and fragment shader to implement volume rendering.
