Abstract: The Routledge publication, Conflict and Development, represents a landmark effort to illustrate the linkages between conflict, poverty, and profit and, as a result, underdevelopment and uneven development in various parts of the world. The authors, Roger Mac Ginty and AndrewWilliams, are interestingly situated to undertake such an endeavor. After completing his studies at the School of International Relations at University of St. Andrews, Mac Ginty has become a specialist in the field of peace, conflict, and conflict management. Williams is a professor of International Relations at the University of St. Andrews, specializing in the study of conflict and international history. He has worked as a consultant for United Nations organizations such as the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and has written a number of articles and books on the themes of Liberalism and War. This book is a new scholarly contribution of both authors to the contemporary debates on the means and ends of a social policy developed in the context of the emerging relationship between “conflict” and “development.”
