On the Phenomenal Mechanisms and Prediction Methods of Flow Boiling Heat Transfer in Microchannels
Lixin Cheng,Guodong Xia +1 more
- 01 Apr 2017
TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive analysis of phenomenal mechanisms and the available correlations and models of flow boiling heat transfer in micro-channels is presented, and the results show that the flow pattern based model combining the three-zone model with the annular flow model gives better prediction than the three zone heat transfer model alone.

High-performance tubular evaporator utilizing high aspect ratio manifold microchannels
Vibhash Jha
- 01 Jan 2012
TL;DR: Jha et al. as mentioned in this paper developed a high performance micro-grooved evaporator for small-scale ammonia-water absorption cooling system, which achieved a heat transfer coefficient greater than 20,000 W/m-K.

Flow boiling behaviors of various refrigerants inside horizontal tubes: a comparative research study
TL;DR: In this paper , a statistical approach is introduced for error analysis and a valid correlation is proposed for each refrigerant for convective boiling behaviors of refrigerants (R22, R134a, R290, R404a and R410a) compared with existing flow boiling correlations.

An experimental study of adiabatic two-phase gas-liquid flow in helical micro-tube
Adirek Suriyawong,Kritsada Pratuyai,Somchai Wongwises,Sira Saisorn +3 more
- 15 Sep 2021
TL;DR: In this article, the development of two-phase flow patterns in helical micro-tube was experimentally investigated and the adiabatic gas-liquid two phase flow regime maps were presented based on a 0.87mm inner diameter tube which was helical glass channel.

A model for predicting flow regime transitions in horizontal and near horizontal gas-liquid flow
Yemada Taitel,A. E. Dukler +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a generalized flow regime map based on this theory is presented, which is used for determining flow regime transitions in two-phase gas-liquid flow, and the mechanisms for transition are based on physical concepts and are fully predictive.

Convective boiling and condensation
John G. Collier,John R. Thome +1 more
- 01 Jan 1994
TL;DR: In this paper, the basic models of two-phase flow are discussed and empirical treatments of two phase flow are provided. But the authors focus on convective boiling and condensing.

Modelling flow pattern transitions for steady upward gas-liquid flow in vertical tubes
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed models for predicting flow pattern transitions during steady gas-liquid flow in vertical tubes based on physical mechanisms suggested for each transition, incorporating the effect of fluid properties and pipe size.

A flow pattern map for gas—liquid flow in horizontal pipes
TL;DR: Govier and Aziz as mentioned in this paper used flow pattern maps for two-phase gas-liquid flow in horizontal pipes and compared them with the 5935 flow pattern observations currently contained in the UC Multiphase Pipe Flow Data Bank.
