Abstract: Three types of amine-containing polyurethanes and poly(urethane−ureas), N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) and/or tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) as the chain extender and poly(ethylene glycol) of MW 400 as the soft-segment component, have been studied by FTIR. The hydrogen bonding in hard and soft segments was examined for the extent of phase separation, and the microstructure was evidenced by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The temperature effects on the hydrogen bonding were also investigated. They show a significant amount of hydrogen bonding between the hard and soft segments. It indicates that there exists a large amount of partial phase mixing of hard and soft segments compared to the conventional polyurethanes. The bulky CH3 groups of MDEA in hard segments restrict the hydrogen bonding within the hard segments, while the TEPA-containing urethane−urea polymers have more distinct phase separation. However, all of the polymers studied are amorphous materials such that the dissolved soft segments in...

The processability of a poly(urea-urethane) elastomer reversibly crosslinked with aromatic disulfide bridges
Roberto Martin,Alaitz Rekondo,Alaitz Ruiz de Luzuriaga,Germán Cabañero,Hans J. Grande,Ibon Odriozola +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the self-healing ability of polyurea-urethane elastomer reversibly cured with aromatic disulfide bridges was shown, and although being chemically crosslinked, such materials can be easily reprocessed by applying heat and pressure to obtain any desired form.

Microphase separation and rheological properties of polyurethane melts. 1. Effect of block length
Sachin Velankar,Stuart L. Cooper +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of polyesterurethanes with differing block length and constant composition have been synthesized for rheological studies, and temperature-resolved SAXS experiments demonstrated gradual microphase mixing of the microphase-separated materials as the temperature increased.

Enzyme-induced biodegradation of polycarbonate-polyurethanes: dependence on hard-segment chemistry.
TL;DR: The results showed that all of the polymers synthesized in this study were susceptible to CE-catalyzed hydrolytic degradation, and that the extent of degradation was highly dependent on the nature of hard segment interactions within the polymer and at the surface.

Polymeric carbon nitrides and related metal-free materials for energy and environmental applications
TL;DR: Carbon nitride polymers have emerged as a new class of materials for a wide range of applications such as photo and electro-catalysis, sensors, bioimaging and more due to their chemical, photophysical and catalytic properties as well as their low-price, facile synthesis and high stability under harsh chemical conditions as mentioned in this paper.
Highly Stretchable Metallic Nanowire Networks Reinforced by the Underlying Randomly Distributed Elastic Polymer Nanofibers via Interfacial Adhesion Improvement

TL;DR: A simple fabrication approach for porous nanomesh-type elastic conductors is shown by designing a layer-by-layer structure of nanofibers/nanowires (NFs/NWs) via interfacial hydrogen bonding, which achieves high conductivity, high stretchability, and good durability.
