Formation and breakdown of ABA
Adrian J. Cutler,Joan E. Krochko +1 more
TL;DR: The mechanism by which the concentration of hormonally active ABA is controlled at the cellular, tissue and whole plant level can now be analyzed in detail.

High abscisic acid and low root hydraulic conductivity may explain low leaf hydration in 'Mandarin' lime exposed to aluminum.
Giselle Schwab Silva,Marina Alves Gavassi,Brenda Mistral Oliveira Carvalho,Gustavo Habermann +3 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the root hydraulic conductivity (Lpr) of Citrus x limonia ('Mandarin' lime) was measured after 60 days in nutrient solution with 0 and 1,480μM Abscisic acid.

Water-deficit-induced changes in cytoskeleton-bound and other polysomal populations in embryonic tissue during triticale caryopsis germination
Monika Kosowska,Ewa Fr czek,Ryszard Amarowicz,Magdalena Karama,Shunnosuke Abe,Stanisław Weidner +5 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that there must be an active mechanism of translational control that permits specific proteins to be synthesized despite a reduction in total protein synthesis.

Role of the Plastid Envelope in the Biogenesis of Chloroplast Lipids
Maryse A. Block,Eric Maréchal,Jacques Joyard +2 more
- 01 Jan 2001
TL;DR: Analyses of membrane subfractions and of mutants deleted in particular lipids indicate some specific association of lipid and protein in the membranes, and recent localization of some enzymes involved in chlorophyll synthesis indicates a highly compartmentalized process interacting with the envelope.

Molecular cloning of a putative Acanthus ebracteatus- 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid deoxygenase (AeNCED) and its overexpression in rice
TL;DR: The levels of ABA in transgenic rice seedlings overexpressing AeNCED treated with 100 mM NaCl for 24 hours were higher than those of untransformed plants, however, a higher level of dihydrophaseic acid (DPA) and ABA glucose ester (ABA-GE) were also observed in these transgenic plants suggesting that rapid degradation of A BA through a self-regulation mechanism.
A New Nonsense Mutation in Capsanthin/Capsorubin Synthase Controlling Orange Pepper Fruit
TL;DR: Genetic analysis of the F2 population derived from C. annuum ‘Sweet Banana’ revealed that orange fruit color is determined by a single recessive gene, and developed a derived cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (dCAPS) marker to distinguish the nonsense mutation in Ccs.

The 1-deoxy-d-xylulose-5-phosphate pathway of isoprenoid biosynthesis in plants
Hartmut K. Lichtenthaler
- 01 Jun 1999
TL;DR: The DOXP pathway of IPP formation starts from D-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and pyruvate, with DOXP-synthase as the starting enzyme, and provides new insight into the regulation of chloroplast metabolism.

Plant hormones : physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology
Peter J. Davies
- 01 Jan 1995
TL;DR: This chapter discusses the role of hormones in plant growth, development, and senescence, and the mechanism of action of auxin and cytokinin in prokaryotes, as well as other aspects of hormone synthesis and action.

Specific Oxidative Cleavage of Carotenoids by VP14 of Maize
Steven H. Schwartz,Bao-Cai Tan,Bao-Cai Tan,Douglas A. Gage,Douglas A. Gage,Jan A. D. Zeevaart,Jan A. D. Zeevaart,Donald R. McCarty,Donald R. McCarty +8 more
TL;DR: A new ABA-deficient mutant of maize has been identified and the corresponding gene, Vp14, has been cloned and the recombinant VP14 protein catalyzes the cleavage of 9-cis-epoxy-carotenoids to form C25 apo-aldehydes and xanthoxin, a precursor of ABA in higher plants.

Genetic control of abscisic acid biosynthesis in maize.
TL;DR: The viviparous seed mutants of maize identify genes involved in synthesis and perception of ABA, a apocarotenoid synthesized from cleavage of carotenoids, which regulates seed maturation and stress responses in plants.
