Financial development and energy consumption in Central and Eastern European frontier economies
766
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the impact of financial development on energy consumption in a sample of 9 Central and Eastern European frontier economies and found a positive and statistically significant relationship between financial development and energy consumption when financial development is measured using banking variables like deposit money bank assets to GDP, financial system deposits to GDP or liquid liabilities to GDP.

The effects of health conditions on financial sector development
TL;DR: In this article , the authors examined whether improvements in health conditions can help explain the expansion of the financial system in Sub-Saharan Africa, and they indicated that better health conditions contribute to financial development.

The Non-Linear Effect of Chinese Financial Developments on Energy Supply Structures
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors examined the threshold effects of financial developments on energy supply structures for 17 energy supply provinces in China observed over 2000-2014, using a non-linear Panel Smooth Transition Regression (PSTR) model.

Spatial-Temporal Pattern and Driving Factors of Carbon Efficiency in China: Evidence from Panel Data of Urban Governance
TL;DR: Li et al. as discussed by the authors used the super-efficiency SBM model to measure the carbon efficiency of 283 prefecture-level cities and found that the average city-level carbon efficiency from 2003 to 2017 showed a W-type growth trend.
Stock markets dynamics and environmental pollution: emerging issues and policy options in Asia
Carlos Samuel Ramos Meza,Maryam Kashif,Vipin Jain,John William Grimaldo Guerrero,Randhir Roopchund,Gniewko Niedbała +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the nonlinear stock market reaction to the environment and found that the short-run stock market asymmetric effects continued into the long-run asymmetric effect on the environment in Asia.

Some Tests of Specification for Panel Data: Monte Carlo Evidence and an Application to Employment Equations.
Manuel Arellano,Stephen Bond +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the generalized method of moments (GMM) estimator optimally exploits all the linear moment restrictions that follow from the assumption of no serial correlation in the errors, in an equation which contains individual effects, lagged dependent variables and no strictly exogenous variables.

Initial conditions and moment restrictions in dynamic panel data models

TL;DR: In this paper, two alternative linear estimators that are designed to improve the properties of the standard first-differenced GMM estimator are presented. But both estimators require restrictions on the initial conditions process.

Another look at the instrumental variable estimation of error-components models
Manuel Arellano,Olympia Bover +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a framework for efficient IV estimators of random effects models with information in levels which can accommodate predetermined variables is presented. But the authors do not consider models with predetermined variables that have constant correlation with the effects.

Initial conditions and moment restrictions in dynamic panel data models
Richard Blundell,Stephen Bond +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the autoregressive error components model was extended with a linear generalized method of moments (GMM) estimator, which was shown to be equivalent to the optimal GMM estimator for the normal homoskedastic error component model.

Finance and Growth: Schumpeter Might Be Right
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined a cross-section of about 80 countries for the period 1960-89 and found that various measures of financial development are strongly associated with both current and later rates of economic growth.
