Abstract: The following theorem is established. Among all static, asymptotically flat vacuum space-times with closed simply connected equipotential surfaces ${g}_{00}=\mathrm{constant}$, the Schwarzschild solution is the only one which has a nonsingular infinite-red-shift surface ${g}_{00}=0$. Thus there exists no static asymmetric perturbation of the Schwarzschild manifold due to internal sources (e.g., a quadrupole moment) which will preserve a regular event horizon. Possible implications of this result for asymmetric gravitational collapse are briefly discussed.

A source of a quasi--spherical space--time: The case for the M--Q solution
TL;DR: In this paper, a physically reasonable source for an axially-symmetric solution to the Einstein equations is presented, supporting the belief that the exterior space--time produced by such source, describing a quadrupole correction to the Schwarzschild metric, is particularly suitable (among known solutions of the Weyl family) for discussing the properties of quasi-spherical gravitational fields.

Analytic topological hairy dyonic black holes and thermodynamics.
TL;DR: In this article, a new family of topological hairy dyonic black hole solutions in asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS) space is presented and discussed, and analytic expressions of regularized action, stress tensor, conserved charges and free energies are obtained.

Symmetry hinders quantum information recovery

TL;DR: This work establishes fundamental limitations on the information recovery arising from the Lie group symmetries in the scrambling dynamics and shows a close relationship between information recovery, symmetry, and quantum coherence, and that symmetry hinders the quantum information recovery.

Hairy black holes in Einstein-Weyl gravity
TL;DR: In this article, the authors derive numerical examples of black hole solutions with massive scalar hair, and study the effect of the scalar field on the black hole structure, and limit themselves to static and spherically symmetric solutions which are asymptotically flat.

Stability of a Schwarzschild Singularity
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that a Schwarzschild singularity, spherically symmetrical and endowed with mass, will undergo small vibrations about the spherical form and therefore remain stable if subjected to a small nonspherical perturbation.

Maximal analytic extension of the Kerr metric
TL;DR: Kruskal's transformation of the Schwarzschild metric is generalized to apply to the stationary, axially symmetric vacuum solution of Kerr, and is used to construct a maximal analytic extension of the latter.

Collinear particles and bondi dipoles in general relativity
W. Israel,K. A. Khan +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a static vacuum line element is derived which represents the field of a collinear set of spherically symmetric masses and a limiting process applied to this line-element yields an explicit global solution of a problem first considered by Bondi.

Possible Instability in the Self-closure Phenomenon in Gravitational Collapse
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors point out that models with exact spherical symmetry possess idiosyncrasies which render them dangerous, and perhaps misleading, as a basis for induction, and they suggest that such models are not suitable for induction.
