Survival and Transfer of Murine Norovirus within a Hydroponic System during Kale and Mustard Microgreen Harvesting
Qing Wang
- 28 Jul 2015
TL;DR: It is seen that viruses can be recirculated in water, even after an initial contamination event is removed, taken up through the roots of microgreens, and transferred to edible tissues.

Efficacy of Oxidizing Disinfectants at Inactivating Murine Norovirus on Ready-to-Eat Foods
Julie Jean
- 01 Aug 2016
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the efficacy of oxidizing disinfectants (sodium hypochlorite, chloride dioxide and peracetic acid) at inactivating noroviruses on fruits and vegetables, using a norovirus surrogate, which replicates in cell culture.

TL;DR: A large community outbreak of norovirus gastrointestinal infection occurred in Västra Götaland County, Sweden in August 2004, following attendance at recreational lakes, and frequency age-matched case control study was undertaken of persons who had attended these lakes to identify risk factors.

TL;DR: This work lends support to the idea that calicivirus VPg acts as a novel ‘cap substitute’ during initiation of translation on virus mRNA.
Murine Norovirus: a Model System To Study Norovirus Biology and Pathogenesis
TL;DR: This chapter discusses human noroviruses, which are the major cause of nonbacterial, epidemic gastroenteritis worldwide and cause significant numbers of endemic cases, as well as investigating the mechanisms behind their spread.
Molecular monitoring of disinfection efficacy using propidium monoazide in combination with quantitative PCR
TL;DR: A potential application of the novel chemical propidium monoazide (PMA), which results in the selective suppression of DNA detection from dead cells, in combination with quantitative PCR as a diagnostic tool, successfully monitored the disinfection efficacy of hypochlorite, benzalkonium and heat on several model pathogens.
