Estimation of toxic hazard—A decision tree approach
G.M. Cramer,R.A. Ford,R.L. Hall +2 more
1.3K
TL;DR: A procedure for making a significant part of this process rational, public and explicit is proposed, which consists of a ‘decision tree’ of 33 questions, each answered ‘yes’ or ‘no’, and rests heavily on known data on metabolism and toxicity.

Evaluating potential refinements to existing Threshold of Toxicological Concern (TTC) values for environmentally-relevant compounds
TL;DR: TTC values derived using oral (sub)chronic No Observable (Adverse) Effect Level (NO(A)EL) data from the EPA's Toxicity Values database (ToxValDB) substantiated the original TTC values, reaffirming the utility of TTC as a promising tool in a risk-based prioritisation approach.

A new paradigm in threshold of toxicological concern based on chemoinformatics analysis of a highly curated database enriched with antimicrobials.
Chihae Yang,Mitchell Cheeseman,James F. Rathman,Aleksandra Mostrag,Nicholas Skoulis,Vessela Vitcheva,Seth Goldberg +6 more
TL;DR: A new framework for potential assessment of chronic toxicity made possible with the power of modern reliable databases and chemoinformatic methods is proposed.

TL;DR: In this article, the Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and Materials in Contact with Food (the Panel) is asked to advise the Commission on the implications for human health of chemically defined flavouring substances used in or on foodstuffs in the Member States.

The Cramer’s rule for the parametrization of phenol and its hydroxylated byproducts: UV spectroscopy vs. high performance liquid chromatography
TL;DR: It can be concluded that the Cramer’s rule can be used for the parametrization of the UV absorbance data of phenol and its main intermediate products, and UV-visible spectroscopy can be selected instead of HPLC in much of the experiments concerning with aqueous-phase reactions.

Analytical methods for monitoring contaminants in food-An industrial perspective.
TL;DR: In order to keep pace with the increased need for expanded analytical capability - faster throughput, more analytes per sample - chromatographic separation capability still needs to grow, and orthogonal separation techniques and multi-dimensional chromatography are key tools for the future.
