Abstract: The public demand in recent times has compelled different industries to move toward the frequent use of plant-derived natural colors that do not cause any detrimental effects on the environment and ecosystem. Advanced changes for the natural bio-resources and their sustainable use for multifunctional purposes are gaining widespread step now. The present chapter represents the environmental, functional properties, extraction methodology, and the application of natural dyes in various walks of life. It is expected that this chapter will fulfill the needs of the researchers, traders, and industrialists who are working on resurgence of natural dyes.

TL;DR: The role of these flavonoids is discussed in this paper, using a rapid and simple method, i.e. flavonoid histolocalization associated with UV, it was demonstrated that saw-wort contains high concentrations of luteolin derivatives and could be considered for use again as a natural dye.
