Endocrine disruptors also function as nervous disruptors and can be renamed endocrine and nervous disruptors (ENDs).

Abstract: Endocrine disruption (ED) and endocrine disruptors (EDs) emerged as scientific concepts in 1995, after numerous chemical pollutants were found to be responsible for reproductive dysfunction. The World Health Organization established in the United Nations Environment Programme a list of materials, plasticizers, pesticides, and various pollutants synthesized from petrochemistry that impact not only reproduction, but also hormonal functions, directly or indirectly. Cells communicate via either chemical or electrical signals transmitted within the endocrine or nervous systems. To investigate whether hormone disruptors may also interfere directly or indirectly with the development or functioning of the nervous system through either a neuroendocrine or a more general mechanism, we examined the scientific literature to ascertain the effects of EDs on the nervous system, specifically in the categories of neurotoxicity, cognition, and behaviour. To date, we demonstrated that all of the 177 EDs identified internationally by WHO are known to have an impact on the nervous system. Furthermore, the precise mechanisms underlying this neurodisruption have also been established. It was previously believed that EDs primarily function via the thyroid. However, this study presents substantial evidence that approximately 80 % of EDs operate via other mechanisms. It thus outlines a novel concept: EDs are also neurodisruptors (NDs) and can be collectively termed endocrine and nervous disruptors (ENDs). Most of ENDs are derived from petroleum residues, and their various mechanisms of action are similar to those of "spam" in electronic communications technologies. Therefore, ENDs can be considered as an instance of spam in a biological context.

TL;DR: In this paper , the effects on non-target organisms indicate a broad range of biochemical and physiological modes of action, which contrasts with the general assumption that herbicides are specific and act only on target plants.
Physiological Roles of Serotonin in Bivalves: Possible Interference by Environmental Chemicals Resulting in Neuroendocrine Disruption
TL;DR: Information available on the effects and mechanisms of action of SSRIs on the serotonergic system of adult bivalves is summarized and basic research on neuroendocrine signaling is still needed to evaluate the potential impact of neuro endocrine disruptors in key invertebrate groups of aquatic ecosystems.

TL;DR: In the group of 10 recovered patients "intermediate syndrome" was not observed in 3 only and AChE activity returned to normal quickly, while in the remaining 7 clinical state became worse during next 48-72 hours after temporary improvement.

Mechanism of acute endosulfan intoxication-induced neurotoxicity in Sprague-Dawley rats.
TL;DR: Results suggest a new molecular mechanism underlying the endosulfan-induced acute neurotoxicity via induction of oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory responses that is mediated by the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B by phosphorylation of p65 subunit.

TL;DR: A1254 may interfere with the activation of AVP mRNA transcript levels and protein, causing a central dysfunction of vasopressinergic system, and perinatal exposure to A1254 disrupts the AVP system similarly in Wistar and SD rats.

Role of aromatase and radial glial cells in neurotoxin-induced dopamine neuron degeneration and regeneration.
TL;DR: Findings in this study provide support for the hypothesis that endogenous estrogens are neuroprotective in goldfish and reveal that the activation of radial glial cells and dopamine neuron recovery after MPTP insult is aromatase-dependent.
