Enantioselective β-Alkylation of Aldehydes through an Organocatalyzed C–C Bond-Scission Reaction
4
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel organocatalyzed C-C bond-scission reaction of saturated aldehydes containing a suitable leaving group at the β-position was used for the in situ formation of iminium intermediates, which were then captured by nucleophiles to achieve a direct enantioselective β-alkylation of aldehyde.

Abstract: A novel organocatalyzed C–C bond-scission reaction of saturated aldehydes containing a suitable leaving group at the β-position was used for the in situ formation of iminium intermediates, which were then captured by nucleophiles to achieve a direct enantioselective β-alkylation of aldehydes. Within short reaction times, the corresponding β-alkylated aldehyde products were obtained in high yields (48–87%) and with excellent enantioselectivities (84–98%).

TL;DR: An In(OTf)3-catalyzed intermolecular [3 + 2] annulation for the synthesis of 2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo[e]indoles and 2, 3-dishydrobenzofurans from readily available substrates has been achieved and β-Naphthylamines and phenols have been demonstrated as excellent reaction partners.

Asymmetric synthesis of piperidines using the nitro-Mannich reaction☆
TL;DR: In this paper, a diastereoselective nitro-Mannich reaction between a β-aryl/hetero-aryl substituted nitroalkanes and glyoxylate imine provides β-nitroamines with good selectivity (70:30 to >95:5) for the syn, anti-diastereoisomers.

TL;DR: In this review, the work that has been done for the synthesis of bicyclo-octane framework is considered, which is present in many natural products with very important biological activities.
