Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator image recognition system allowing a user to recognize situations in an elevator car and in getting-off story easily from an elevator landing place. SOLUTION: A portable terminal unit 1 starts application software for confirming images in the car 5 and a landing place in the getting-off story and transmits an image display demand to a server 6 in a building in the portable terminal unit. The communication between the portable terminal unit 1 and the server 6 in the building is performed using infrared rays. The portable terminal unit 1 enables infrared ray communication by utilizing an infrared ray communication port provided in a body and providing infrared ray communication ports at each landing place or in the car 5 on an elevator side. The server 6 in the building can display situations in the car and in the getting-off story in a display device at the landing place by images based on the image display demand received from the portable terminal unit. The user can confirm easily whether a dubious person is in the car and in the getting-off story or not before getting on the elevator in the getting-on story. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
