Elastic and acoustic wave band structure
1.1K
TL;DR: In this article, a periodic structure consisting of identical spheres placed periodically within a host homogeneous material is investigated, and the structure is shown to have a similar structure to the one described in this paper.

Mechanism analysis and experimental verification of the bulging vibration characteristic of a fluid-solid metamaterial
TL;DR: A finite element analysis model of metamaterials was established using COMSOL software based on the periodic theory, and the dispersion curves, frequency response functions, and vibration modes of the FSMs were determined as mentioned in this paper .

Topics in the theory of excitations in granular matter
Rakesh P. Tiwari
- 01 Jan 2010
TL;DR: In this article, a three Josephson-junction persistent-current qubit is considered, with two junctions being identical, and the third junction differing from the other two by a factor of α in Josephson energy and capacitance.

Asymptotic analysis of wave propagation through periodic arrays and layers
Shiyan Guo
- 01 Jan 2011
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used matched asymptotic expansions to obtain envelope equations for infinite arrays and then applied them to a strip of doubly or triply periodic arrays of scatterers.

Suppression and enhancement of elastodynamic radiation from a point source load in elastic wave band structures
Toshio Suzuki,Paul K. L. Yu +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that elastic wave propagation can be completely inhibited, irrespective of propagation directions, if oscillation frequencies of elastic waves fall inside elastic wave band gaps, i.e., three-dimensional frequency stop bands of elastic wave generated in 3D periodic elastic materials.

Inhibited Spontaneous Emission in Solid-State Physics and Electronics
TL;DR: If a three-dimensionally periodic dielectric structure has an electromagnetic band gap which overlaps the electronic band edge, then spontaneous emission can be rigorously forbidden.

Absence of Diffusion in Certain Random Lattices
TL;DR: In this article, a simple model for spin diffusion or conduction in the "impurity band" is presented, which involves transport in a lattice which is in some sense random, and in them diffusion is expected to take place via quantum jumps between localized sites.

Strong localization of photons in certain disordered dielectric superlattices
TL;DR: A new mechanism for strong Anderson localization of photons in carefully prepared disordered dielectric superlattices with an everywhere real positive dielectrics constant is described.

Disordered electronic systems
TL;DR: In this article, a review of the progress made in the last several years in understanding the properties of disordered electronic systems is presented, focusing on the metal-to-insulator transition and problems associated with the insulator.
