Efficient structural computations with parameters uncertainty for composite applications
23
TL;DR: In this paper, an approximation of the responses as a function of the uncertain data response called surface method (RSM) is proposed to decrease the number of identification points necessary for the RSM, a progressive strategy is proposed.

Stochastic natural frequency analysis of damaged thin-walled laminated composite beams with uncertainty in micromechanical properties
TL;DR: In this article, a stochastic approach to study the natural frequencies of thin-walled laminated composite beams with spatially varying matrix cracking damage in a multi-scale framework is introduced.

Effect of matrix cracking and material uncertainty on composite plates
TL;DR: It is found that the effect of uncertainty must be considered for accurate damage detection in composite structures and the estimates of variance obtained for observable system properties due to uncertainty can be used for developing more robust damage detection algorithms.

Determination of the out-of-plane tensile strength using four-point bending tests on laminated L-angle specimens with different stacking sequences and total thicknesses
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a complete protocol to identify the out-of-plane tensile strength of specimens composed of unidirectional plies, which seems to be independent of the stacking sequence and the total thickness of the specimen, thus allowing the use of this strength in a 3D failure criterion.

Prediction of uncertain elastic parameters of a braided composite
TL;DR: In this article, an approach on predicting the statistical characteristics of elastic modulus of braided composites using vibration test data is proposed, which consists of two main steps, firstly estimate the initial mean values of the orthotropic elastic parameters by adopting the homogenization method, and then identify the variability of the elastic constants using a stochastic model updating algorithm with the first-order perturbation approach, the uncertain parameters are assumed as the summation of mean value and a deviation term with zero mean.

The performance prediction and optimization of the fiber-reinforced composite structure with uncertain parameters
TL;DR: In this paper, the edge-based smoothing technique was introduced to improve the efficiency and capability to resist the mesh distortion compared with the traditional stochastic FEM, and the stable performance feature of fiber-reinforced composite in the uncertain working condition was presented.

- 01 Jan 1995
TL;DR: The Self-Organising Map (SOM) algorithm was introduced by the author in 1981 as mentioned in this paper, and many applications form one of the major approaches to the contemporary artificial neural networks field, and new technologies have already been based on it.

Cross-Validatory Choice and Assessment of Statistical Predictions
TL;DR: In this article, a generalized form of the cross-validation criterion is applied to the choice and assessment of prediction using the data-analytic concept of a prescription, and examples used to illustrate the application are drawn from the problem areas of univariate estimation, linear regression and analysis of variance.
