Effects of Urban Sprawl on Riparian Vegetation: Is Compact or Dispersed Urbanization Better for Biodiversity?
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of urban sprawl on the riparian vegetation condition in one of the most degraded watersheds in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, Argentina was studied, and the results showed that the quality of existing river corridors across the compact matrix was not desirable and best practices for redesigning a more sustainable landscape structure are necessary, including the restoration of habitats for wetland species.

Rapid plant colonization of the forelands of a vanishing glacier is strongly associated with species traits
TL;DR: The results show that the vegetation of glacier forelands is developing rapidly depending on the plant species in the surrounding area and the species’ life-history traits.

Trophic Niche in a Raptor Species: The Relationship between Diet Diversity, Habitat Diversity and Territory Quality
TL;DR: This study suggests that niche generalist foraging strategies are based on an active search for different prey species within or between habitats rather than on the selection of territories with high habitat diversity.
Importance of eucalypts in exploitation of urban parks by Rainbow and Musk Lorikeets
Justine K. Smith,Alan Lill +1 more
TL;DR: Abundant nectar and pollen from ornamental eucalypts planted in the twentieth century and the apparently low level of competitive interactions with other bird species for these resources have probably been important in facilitating the recent increase in abundance and distribution of both lorikeets in Melbourne.

Species Diversity Hinders Adaptation to Toxicants
TL;DR: It is shown that species diversity hinders the adaptation to toxicants, and the current framework for risk assessment of pesticides is not protective against selection for tolerant organisms and the associated risk of genetic erosion.
