Abstract: Nanosized titanium oxide (TiO2) powders have been prepared by conventional and microwave hydrothermal methods by forced hydrolysis of TiOCl2. As-prepared powders have been completely characterised by qualitative and quantitative XRD and TEM. The obtained titania powders have been redispersed (45 and 60 wt.%) in an aqueous hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) solution (0.5–1 wt.%). Rheological characterisation has been performed in order to evaluate the influence of HPC on particles agglomerations. The effect of mixing time, HPC and TiO2 concentration and their mutual interactions on shear stress have been evaluated with a design of experiment (DOE) approach. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. Design of Experiment: A Rational and Still Unexplored Approach to Inorganic Materials’ Synthesis
Francesco Lamberti,Chiara Mazzariol,Federico Spolaore,Riccardo Ceccato,Luigi Salmaso,Silvia Gross +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a review was devoted to outlining the use and potential increasing application of the Design of Experiment (DoE) approach to the rational and planned synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials, with a particular focus on polycrystalline nanostructures (metal and alloys, oxides, chalcogenides, halogenides) produced by sustainable wet chemistry routes based on a multi-parameter experimental landscape.
Predictive Modelling of Etching Process of Machinable Glass Ceramics, Boron Nitride, and Silicon Carbide
TL;DR: In this paper, the first and second order etching rate, surface roughness and accuracy equations were developed using the Response Surface Method (RSM), which included etching temperature, etching duration, solution and solution concentration.

Ceramics ductile at low temperature
J. Karch,R. Birringer,H. Gleiter +2 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was observed that polycrystalline ceramics became ductile permitting large (~100%) plastic deformations at low temperature if a polycrystaline ceramic was generated with a crystal size of a few nm.
