Abstract: {PG,1 A new variety of Asiatic hybrid lily plant bearing large clusters of medium-sized flowers of excellent form, strong color, and long persistence, both on the plant and as a cut flower; the flowers of the new plant are characterized particularly by their unique vibrant golden-orange color and by the distinctive pattern of the color tones on the tepals. The flowers are completely unspotted. The plant is highly resistant to disease and shows high tolerance to virus. It is an excellent garden plant. The bulbs may be precooled and forced as pot plants, retaining their short stature without chemical treatment. The clone is very vigorous and is an excellent grower and propagator.

The design of POSTGRES
Michael Stonebraker,Lawrence A. Rowe +1 more
- 15 Jun 1986
TL;DR: The main design goals of the new system are toprovide better support for complex objects, provide user extendibility for data types, operators and access methods, provide facilities for active databases and inferencing including forward- and backward-chaining.

Object and File Management in the EXODUS Extensible Database System
Michael J. Carey,David J. DeWitt,Joel E. Richardson,Eugene J. Shekita +3 more
- 25 Aug 1986
TL;DR: The data structure and algorithms used to support such objects are described, and performance results from a preliminary prototype of the EXODUS large-object management scheme are presented, and a scheme for maintaining versions of large objects is also described.

TL;DR: The preparation of beehives from a synthetic resinous material which is acceptable to the bees, which is not attacked by vermin, and which exhibits the requisite physical properties to provide a desirable beehive is accomplished by assembling the hives from molded urethane foam panels.

Multimedia document presentation, information extraction, and document formation in MINOS: a model and a system
TL;DR: MINOS as mentioned in this paper is an object-oriented multimedia information system that provides integrated facilities for creating and managing complex multimedia objects, including an interactive multimedia editor that is used for the extraction and interactive creation of new information, and a multimedia document formatter that synthesizes a new multimedia document from extracted and interactively generated information.

The design and implementation of INGRES
TL;DR: The currently operational (March 1976) version of the INGRES database management system is described in this article, which gives a relational view of data, supports two high level nonprocedural data sublanguages, and runs as a collection of user processes on top of the UNIX operating system for Digital Equipment Corporation PDP 11/40, 11/45, and 11/70 computers.
Spatial management of data
TL;DR: An overview of the SDMS concept is presented and its implementation in a prototype system for retrieving information from both a symbolic database management system and from an optical videodisk is described.

- 14 May 1980
TL;DR: This paper defines an expert and indicates how it would be added to one existing data base system and suggests two appropriate mechanisms, namely hypothetical data bases (HDB's) and experts.
