Abstract: Petri Nets were introduced and still successfully used to analyze and model discrete event systems especially in engineering and computer sciences such as in automatic control. Recently this discrete Petri Nets formalism was successfully extended to continuous and hybrid systems. This monograph presents a well written and clearly organized introduction in the standard methods of Petri Nets with the aim to reach an accurate understanding of continuous and hybrid Petri Nets, while preserving the consistency of basic concepts throughout the book. The book is a monograph as well as a didactic tool which is easy to understand due to many simple solved examples and detailed figures. In its second completely reworked edition various sections, concepts and recently developed algorithms are added as well as additional examples/exercises.

New results for fault detection of untimed continuous Petri nets
Carla Seatzu,Maria Paola Cabasino,Cristian Mahulea,Manuel Silva +3 more
- 01 Dec 2009
TL;DR: This paper generalizes the previous works in this framework where this problem was solved only for special classes of continuous Petri nets, namely state machines and backward conflict free nets, and shows that the price to pay is that only three diagnosis states can be defined.

Contribution à la modélisation et à la commande des feux de signalisation par réseaux de Petri hybrides
Bassem Sammoud
- 04 Sep 2015
TL;DR: In this article, the authors adopt a modelisation par les reseaux de Petri Hybrides (RdPH), which represente, simultanement, deux niveaux de representation complementaires : l'evolution continue des files d'attente and l''evolution discrete des feux tricolores.

Simulation for education in business decision-making
Juan-Ignacio Latorre Biel,Emilio Jiménez Macías +1 more
- 01 Jan 2012
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a simulation-based approach for the education of decision-makers in business, in which the "what-if" analysis can be complemented by the comparison of the decisions made by the student with the ones provided by optimization algorithms.

Humanoid robot hierarchical navigation using Petri nets and fuzzy logic
Federico Furlán,Elsa Rubio,Humberto Sossa,Victor Hugo Ponce Ponce +3 more
- 01 Sep 2017
TL;DR: The proposed system is a supervisory structure formed by two hierarchical levels of a discrete event system formed by a Petri net that indicates the sequence of motions that the robot has to make.
