Abstract: Petri Nets were introduced and still successfully used to analyze and model discrete event systems especially in engineering and computer sciences such as in automatic control. Recently this discrete Petri Nets formalism was successfully extended to continuous and hybrid systems. This monograph presents a well written and clearly organized introduction in the standard methods of Petri Nets with the aim to reach an accurate understanding of continuous and hybrid Petri Nets, while preserving the consistency of basic concepts throughout the book. The book is a monograph as well as a didactic tool which is easy to understand due to many simple solved examples and detailed figures. In its second completely reworked edition various sections, concepts and recently developed algorithms are added as well as additional examples/exercises.

Towards Decentralized Tracking Control for Petri Nets
D. Guevara-Lozano,Carlos Renato Vázquez,Antonio Ramírez-Treviño +2 more
- 01 Sep 2019
TL;DR: Three distributed strategies are proposed for the control of automated manufacturing systems, based on the tracking control paradigm for Interpreted Petri nets (IPN), which includes a high-level controller that guarantees the fulfillment of global specifications.

Steady State Analysis of Flexible Nets
Jorge Júlvez,Stephen G. Oliver +1 more
TL;DR: An efficient method to analyse the evolution of a system modeled by an FN in the long run is developed, which makes use of a set of constraints, expressed as linear inequalities, that the state variables must satisfy in the steady state.
A Petri net approach to multicellular chopper control
Bogdan Cristian Florea,Dan Alexandru Stoichescu,Valentin Stefanescu +2 more
- 15 Dec 2011
TL;DR: In this paper, a new control algorithm for multicellular converters is introduced, which takes advantage of the hybrid characteristics of the system in order to develop a Petri net model for the converter and design a control method based on this model which ensures a minimum number of commutations.

Delay Time Determination for the Timed Petri Net Model of a Signaling Pathway Based on Its Structural Information
TL;DR: A method to incorporate the concept of time for the inclusion of dynamics of signaling pathway in a Petri net model, i.e., to use timed Petri nets, and the suitability of this algorithm has been confirmed by the results of an application to the IL-1 signaling pathway.
