Direct Experimental Evidence for the Existence of a Heavy Positive V Particle
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that charged V particles exist whose mass is considerably grater than that of a K particle, and which perhaps decay into a nucleon and π-meson, in a manner analogous to the decay of the neutral V particles.

Abstract: Various workers have shown [1,2] that some, if not all, charged V particles observed in cloud-chamber experiments can be identified with the K particle [3] (κ- and χ-mesons) found in nuclear emulsions. Direct mass measurements have been made on primary V particles of both signs of charge. These measurements have in all cases given values, somewhat lighter than a proton mass, which are entirely consistent with the known masses of K particles. The questions arises, therefore, as to whether charged V particles exist whose mass is considerably grater than that of a K particle, and which perhaps decay into a nucleon and π-meson, in a manner analogous to the decay of the neutral V particles.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a model for accelerating a particle to >100 TeV using cosmic rays and neutrino-induced muons, which they call cosmic ray showers.

K Mesons and Hyperons their strong and weak interactions
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a survey of the empirical knowledge of the production processes, the nuclear interactions and the decay processes of K particles and hyperons, and interprets these phenomena within the framework of the charge-independent classification scheme proposed by Gell-Mann and by Nishijima for these ''strange particles''.

A Hypothesis Concerning the Relations among the "New Unstable Particles"
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that if an intermediate or strong coupling calculation were made, the important core term which provides the entire contribution to the low energy (z.+, m ) cross section in the pseudoscalar theory might be damped out and the two coupling schemes would give approximately the same ratio for these cross sections.

On the existence of unstable charged particles of hyperprotonic mass
TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of charged unstable particles of hyperprotonic mass was shown to exist in photographic emulsion and cloud chamber experiments, and the decay schemes for two types of events were proposed.

The Decay of V 0 Particles

The occurrence of heavy mesons in penetrating showers
Robert B. Leighton,S. D. Wanlass +1 more
TL;DR: In the course of a cloud chamber study of penetrating showers, two events have been observed which probably represent the decay in flight of τ-mesons and one event which probably represents the decay of a K-meson as mentioned in this paper.
