I use Jarrett ’ s words ( 2018: np ) here to maintain that: ( t ) he key reason to present this critique [ … ] is to encourage future studies to move away from emphasising the novelty of immaterial [ in this case, digital ] labour and instead provide more nuanced and contextualised understandings of its relationship to capital, both in generalised overviews of the contemporary capitalist condition but also in studies of specific digital labour practices.. This will allow us to expand their knowledge about platforms, their functioning and criticalities as media objects much further than their present understanding.
