Abstract: DIALIGN is an established tool for multiple sequence alignment that is particularly useful to detect local homologies in sequences with low overall similarity. In recent years, various versions of the program have been developed, some of which are fully automated, whereas others are able to accept user-specified external information. In this article, we review some versions of the program that are available through 'Gottingen Bioinformatics Compute Server'. In addition to previously described implementations, we present a new release of DIALIGN called 'DIALIGN-PFAM', which uses hits to the PFAM database for improved protein alignment. Our software is available through http://dialign.gobics.de/.

The MYB182 Protein Down-Regulates Proanthocyanidin and Anthocyanin Biosynthesis in Poplar by Repressing Both Structural and Regulatory Flavonoid Genes
TL;DR: Overexpression of MYB182 in hairy root culture and whole poplar plants led to reduced PA and anthocyanin levels as well as a reduction in the expression of key flavonoid genes, which shows that MyB182 plays an important role in the fine-tuning of MyB134-mediated flavonoids metabolism.
Red: an intelligent, rapid, accurate tool for detecting repeats de-novo on the genomic scale.
Hani Z. Girgis,Hani Z. Girgis +1 more
TL;DR: Red is the first repeat-detection tool capable of labeling its training data and training itself automatically on an entire genome, and it is sensitive to both transposon and simple repeats; in contrast, available tools such as RepeatScout and ReCon are sensitive to transposons, and WindowMasker to simple repeats.
Two R2R3-MYB proteins are broad repressors of flavonoid and phenylpropanoid metabolism in poplar.
TL;DR: Two new repressor MYBs are characterized, poplar MYB165 and MYB194, paralogs which comprise a subgroup of R2R3-MYBs distinct from previously reported poplar repressors, and may also affect the shikimate pathway.

TL;DR: This work presents a novel approach for generating and then co-differentiating hiPSC-derived progenitors and demonstrates derivation of complex tissues from hiPSCs using a single autologous hiPSCS as source and generates a range of stromal cells that co-develop with parenchymal cells to form tissues.
