Pharmaceuticals and related drugs.
R. K. Gilpin,Lawrence A. Pachla +1 more
TL;DR: The current review is a surgey of the analytical methodology for pharmaceuticals and related drugs reported in either Analytical Abstracts or Chemical Abstracts between November 1990 and November 1992.

Use of refractometry and colorimetry as field methods to rapidly assess antimalarial drug quality
Michael D. Green,Henry Nettey,Ofelia Villalva Rojas,Chansapha Pamanivong,Lamphet Khounsaknalath,Miguel Grande Ortiz,Paul N. Newton,Paul N. Newton,Facundo M. Fernández,Latsamy Vongsack,Ot Manolin +10 more
TL;DR: Refractometry, colorimetry and a technique combining both processes as simple and accurate field assays to rapidly test the quality of the commonly available antimalarial drugs; artesunate, chloroquine, quinine, and sulfadoxine are evaluated.

Ultraviolet and Light Absorption Spectrometry
J. A. Howell,L. G. Hargis +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of the development in the fields of ultraviolet light absorption spectrometry and light absorption spectrum analysis during the period December 1977 through November 1979, primarily documented in Chemical Abstracts.

Colorimetric Determination of Two Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs Using P-Dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde
TL;DR: In this paper, a colorimetric method for the quantitative determination of diclofenac sodium and mefenamic acid in pure form and in pharmaceutical preparations was developed based on the interaction of the secondary aromatic amine with p-dimethyl-aminocinnamaldhyde in acidified absolute methanol medium to form very stable red or blue products.

Determination of sulfadoxine concentrations in whole blood using C18 solid-phase extraction, sodium dodecyl sulfate and dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde
TL;DR: The method proved to be a suitable field assay for determining whole-blood levels of sulfonamides in the concentration range from 5 to 100 micrograms ml-1 and correlated well with the sulfadoxine levels determined from high-performance liquid chromatographic analysis.

An ion-exchange method for the detection of amides, imides and anilides
TL;DR: In this paper, the ammonium ion or aniline so formed can be detected by the well-known specific tests for these species, which are simpler, faster and more selective than those already available.
