Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable smooth removal of ice lumps formed to an ice storage chamber by a method wherein a first ice making chamber opened to below and a second ice making chamber opened to above are provided, and while, during deicing operation, the second ice making chamber is heated, cooling of the first ice making chamber is continued, and the second ice making chamber is separated away from the first ice making chamber in a state that ice lumps are caused to reliably reside in the first ice making chamber. CONSTITUTION:Even when manufacture of spherical ice is completed, the feed of a refrigerant to a vaporizer 14 is continued, and supply water is fed to a second ice making chamber 12 by using a water feed valve WV. Water flows over a weir part 62 of a water pan 38, and a second ice making chamber 12 is heated by a water temperature. When the temperature of the second ice making chamber 12 is increased, the water feed valve WV is closed. A cam lever 17 is started to rotate counterclockwise to press downward a side part 61 of the water pan 38. The upper surface of the second ice making chamber 12 is covered with an ice guide plate 67 to provide a smooth surface. Further, a hot gas valve HV feeds hot gas to the vaporizer 14 to heat a first ice making chamber 11, and melting is started. When the first ice making small chamber 13 is heated, icing is rendered deiced, and ice lumps are dropped on an ice guide plate 67 to recover them in an ice storage chamber.
