Data processor using data storage medium

Abstract: PURPOSE:To restore the correct read data despite the presence of a data storage medium of a different type which transmits the read data of serial output of a single bit and parallel output of plural bits with use of the same pseudo random signal. CONSTITUTION:A data storage medium 12 is provided with memories 30-1 and 30-2 which perform the serial reading operations. Then one of prescribed four types of pseudo random signals is outputted to the parallel data of two bits which are simultaneously read out of both memories 30-1 and 30-2 every time a data reading instruction is received from a reader/writer 10. The reader/ writer 10 acquires the self-correlation with the received signal by the correlation computing elements 22-1 to 22-4 with the signal equal to those pseudo random signals of the medium 12 defined as a reference signal. Then the reader/writer 10 detects the largest one of four self-correction values at a comparing part 24 and outputs the corresponding 2-bit data. A type command is produced form a type deciding part 15A before the data are read, and the correct data bits are restored in response to the type answer information given from a type answer part 28A.
