Abstract: As a result of a mistake in software handling of the StereoInvestigator software, we used the wrong parameters to calculate microglia density based on Iba1–DAB reactivity. After consultation with the MBF Bioscience company (Williston, VT, USA), we corrected the calculation. To calculate the density (cells/mm) we now used: Number of all cells counted divided by total area of all sampling sites. We now show the results in the right scale with the correct unit (cells/mm) and the correct significance level (p < 0.05) in the revised Fig. 3. In the figure legend, the significance level changed from p < 0.01 to p < 0.05 and in the paragraph ‘‘3.3. Microglia density in most brain regions is not altered in Poly I:C offspring’’ the numbers, the unit, and significance level for the microglia density in the NAcc area are changed too. The text of this paragraph with the changes set in boldface is as follows: ‘‘As a further step we investigated microglia density in different brain regions (ventral striatum (vSt), medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), nucleus accumbens core (Nacc), cingulate cortex (Cg), gyrus dentatus (DG) and cerebellum (Ce)) since it has been used as a parameter in human post mortem and some animal studies. We could detect a significant increase in microglia density (cells per mm) in the NAcc of Poly I:C H2O (290 ± 40.6) compared to NaCl H2O (210 ± 40.8) (Fig. 3A, two-way ANOVA F4,15 = 1.5, Bonferroni post-hoc test ⁄p 6 0.05). There was no significant difference measured in any of the other brain regions mentioned above between these two groups. Moreover there was no significant effect of minocycline treatment detectable (representative micrographs Fig. 3B I).’’
