Abstract: The paper describes solar house as one of the oldest solar cooled projects in the Arab world,(l). The house has recently been upgraded and now consists of an absorption chiller 7.5 tons-an array of flat plate collectors, 91.2 m2 Yazaki blue panel, a hot storage tank of 7.5 m3, two gas boilers as a back up system and a chilled water storage of 4 m3. The cooling load of the house was estimated to be 5 Ton and the chiller characteristics and the behaviour of the flat plate collectors were assessed and some problems and recommendations were made.
