Contact angle measurement and contact angle interpretation
Daniel Y. Kwok,A. W. Neumann +1 more
1.3K
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the controversy with respect to measurement and interpretation of contact angles is due to the fact that some (or all) of the assumptions made in all energetic approaches are violated when contact angles are measured and processed.

Investigation of Automotive Detailing Products by Ellipsometry and Contact Angle Analysis
F. Placido,R. Birney,J. Kavanagh +2 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of several commercially available automotive waxes and sealants is examined using ellipsometry to determine the thicknesses of applied wax and sealant layers and quantified the water beading effect by measuring the contact angles of water with the wax films.

Surface analysis of polymer microarrays
Michael J. Taylor
- 23 Jul 2009
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used ToF-SIMS and XPS data to analyze the surface properties of polymers in situ in a polymer microarray and showed that the results obtained from PLS models of large polymer libraries are equivalent to those obtained from much smaller datasets, in terms of the ions identified in the regression vector.

Enhanced mixed flotation of copper–molybdenum ore using dodecyl dimethyl betaine-emulsified kerosene as environmentally friendly collector
Wencheng Ge,Jie Liu,Hui Ren,Yimin Zhu,Wenjie Han,Yuexin Han +5 more
TL;DR: Researchers developed an environmentally friendly collector by emulsifying kerosene with dodecyl dimethyl betaine, reducing kerosene dosage by over 50% and enhancing copper-molybdenum ore processing performance while decreasing carbon emissions.

Effect of sputtering pressure on molybdenum oxide thin films prepared by RF magnetron sputtering
Akshay L. Sonera,Kamlesh V. Chauhan,Dharmesh B. Chauhan,Nishant S. Makwana,Divyeshkumar P. Dave,Sushant K. Raval +5 more
- 08 May 2018
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of sputtering pressure variation on Molybdenum oxide thin films were deposited by RF reactive magnetron sputtering and the XRD results showed increment of preferred orientation along with (001) plane for deposited molybDENum oxide films.

A study of a nano-sized water droplet’s transition from a flat surface to a pillared surface
TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic behavior of nano-sized water droplets moving from a flat surface to a pillared surface using molecular dynamics simulations was investigated and the results showed the strongest body force with a pillar height of 6 graphite layers allowed most of the water molecules to move along the top of the pillars.

Estimation of the surface free energy of polymers
D. K. Owens,R. C. Wendt +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a method for measuring the surface energy of solids and for resolving surface energy into contributions from dispersion and dipole-hydrogen bonding forces has been developed based on the measurement of contact angles with water and methylene iodide.

Surface energy and the contact of elastic solids
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of surface energy on the contact between elastic solids is discussed and an analytical model for its effect upon the contact size and the force of adhesion between two lightly loaded spherical solid surfaces is presented.

An Essay on the Cohesion of Fluids
TL;DR: In this article, it has been shown that for each combination of a solid and a fluid, there is an appropriate angle of contact between the surfaces of the fluid, exposed to the air, and to the solid.
