Constructing Parallel Coordinates Plot for Problem Solving
Gennady Andrienko,Natalia Andrienko +1 more

TL;DR: The primary aim of the authors is to link tools to tasks, i.e. to explicitly define the tasks that can be appropriately supported by this technique and to find what of the possible transformations of parallel coordinates plot are useful for each of the tasks.

Abstract: paper reports about authors' investigation of applicability of a well-known technique of visualization of multivariate data, parallel coordinates plot, to different kinds of tasks. Some new methods of transformation of parallel coordinates plots are suggested. However, the primary aim of the authors is "to link tools to tasks", i.e. to explicitly define the tasks that can be appropriately supported by this technique and to find what of the possible transformations of parallel coordinates plot are useful for each of the tasks.

State of the Art of Parallel Coordinates
Julian Heinrich,Daniel Weiskopf +1 more
- 01 Jan 2013
TL;DR: A survey of the current state of the art of visualization techniques for parallel coordinates, which covers geometric models for constructing parallel coordinates and reviews methods for creating and understanding visual representations of parallel coordinates based on a taxonomy established from the literature.

Multivariate Analysis and Geovisualization with an Integrated Geographic Knowledge Discovery Approach
TL;DR: The research shows that such "mixed initiative" methods (computational and visual) can mitigate each other's weakness and collaboratively discover complex patterns in large geographic datasets, in an effective and efficient way.
Pargnostics: Screen-Space Metrics for Parallel Coordinates
Aritra Dasgupta,Robert Kosara +1 more
TL;DR: Pargnostics, parallel coordinates diagnostics, a model based on screen-space metrics that quantify the different visual structures that are observed in parallel coordinates is proposed, providing a way of automatically optimizing the display according to the user's preferences based on the metrics and model.
WeightLifter: Visual Weight Space Exploration for Multi-Criteria Decision Making
Stephan Pajer,Marc Streit,Thomas Torsney-Weir,Florian Spechtenhauser,Torsten Muller,Harald Piringer +5 more
TL;DR: WeightLifter is a novel interactive visualization technique for weight-based MCDM that facilitates the exploration of weight spaces with up to ten criteria that enables users to better understand the sensitivity of a decision to changes of weights and to efficiently localize weight regions where a given solution ranks high.

Using curves to enhance parallel coordinate visualisations
Martin Graham,Jessie Kennedy +1 more
- 16 Jul 2003
TL;DR: A number of refinements to the parallel coordinates visualisation metaphor for multidimensional data are introduced, allowing individual data elements to be traced under certain limitations; normally impossible due to the 'crossing problem'.

Automating the design of graphical presentations of relational information
TL;DR: APT as discussed by the authors is an application-independent presentation tool that automatically designs effective graphical presentations (such as bar charts, scatter plots, and connected graphs) of relational information, based on the view that graphical presentations are sentences of graphical languages.

TL;DR: A liquid proportioning system includes two groups of positive metering tanks, each group consisting of at least two tanks each containing a supply of liquid to be blended and including outlet control device for selectively regulating the volume of liquid leaving the tank per unit of time.
