Abstract: We investigate a single-server composite priority queue with batch inputs where an arriving batch is composed of multi-class customers. The main motivation for studying this type of priority is its potential applicability to communication switching systems. The Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the waiting time distribution is derived via busy-cycle analysis. The conservation law and waiting time characterization for a general class of composite priority queues are also presented. The results in the paper cover previous results as special cases.

Time-dependent analysis of a queue with batch arrivals and n levels of nonpreemptive priority
TL;DR: A queueing system with batch arrivals andn classes of customers with nonpreemptive priorities between them and also expressions for the Laplace transforms of the busy period densities for each class and for the general busy period are obtained.

Relationship between queue length and waiting time in a stationary discrete-time queue
TL;DR: In this paper, a discrete-time single-server queue with batch arrivals is considered and a relationship between characteristics of queue-length and waiting-time distributions is presented, which enables a distributional form of Little's law (DFLL) for a multi-class priority queueing system with the head-of-the-line or preemptive-resume rule, assuming a batch Bernoulli input process for each class.

Relationship between queue-length and waiting time disributions in a priority queue with batch arrivals
TL;DR: In this paper, a single-server priority queue with batch arrivals is considered, where the arrival process of batches is renewal for each priority class and using the point process approach, the individual class queue-length distribution is expressed in terms of the waiting time and the completion time distributions.
Analysis of multiclass m/g/1 queues with a mixture of 1-limited disciplines and gated disciplines
TL;DR: The steady state mean waiting times for single server queues with several groups and several classes of customers can be derived from the linear structure by using the Little's formula and the PASTA property.

Priority queues
N. K. Jaiswal
- 01 Jan 1968
TL;DR: This interface is suitable for dealing with the line-like-behavior that the system needs to manage, but it ought to require that dequeue return the highest priority item in the queue, regardless of how long it has been in the structure.

TL;DR: This paper corrects the error, which occurs in connection with that portion of the delay of a customer due to the service times of other members of the same batch, in a single-server system with batch input.
