TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for a driving assistance system including a prediction subsystem in a vehicle. According to a method aspect of the invention, the method comprises the steps of accepting a set of basic environment representations; allocating a setof basic confidence estimates; associating weights to the basic confidence estimate; calculating a weighted composite confidence estimate for a composite environment representation; and providing the weighted composite estimation as input for an evaluation of a prediction based on the composite environment representations.

Predicting trajectories of objects based on contextual information
David I. Ferguson,David Silver,Stéphane Ross,Nathaniel Fairfield,Ioan-Alexandru Sucan +4 more
- 02 Oct 2014
TL;DR: In this article, a set of possible actions for the object may be generated using map information describing the vehicle's environment and the heading and location of the object, and a final future trajectory is determined based on the determined likelihood value for each trajectory.

Alerting predicted accidents between driverless cars
Dov Moran,Menahem Lasser +1 more
- 26 May 2016
TL;DR: In this paper, a motor vehicle alerts another motor vehicle about a predicted accident, even though that accident is between the alerting car and a third motor vehicle, and the alert is transmitted by non-visual electromagnetic (EM) radiation.

Confidence estimation for predictive driver assistance systems based on plausibility rules
Jens Schmüdderich
- 22 Oct 2013
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a method for accepting an environment representation, calculating a confidence estimate related to the environment representation based on applying plausibility rules, and providing the confidence estimate as input for an evaluation of a prediction based on the representation.

System and method of providing recommendations to users of vehicles
Christopher Paul Urmson,Dmitri A. Dolgov,Andrew Hughes Chatham,Philip Nemec +3 more
- 01 Jun 2015
TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method is provided of providing recommendations to a user of a vehicle. In one aspect, the vehicle navigates autonomously and the sensors provide information that is based on the location of the vehicle and output from sensors directed to the environment surrounding the vehicle.

Method and means for avoiding collision between a motor vehicle and obstacles
Ansaldi Ermanno,Fiorentin Stefano Re,Andrea Saroldi +2 more
- 04 Jul 1991
TL;DR: In this article, a method for avoiding collision between a motor vehicle and obstacles placed in the path of the vehicle comprises the stages of forming a radar map of the area in front of a vehicle, reconstructing the geometry of the road, identifying its edges, detecting the position and speed of vehicle with respect to the road and determining the vehicle's presumed path on the basis of road geometry and the manoeuvre being carried out by the vehicle at that instant.
