Abstract: recorded. Group business, which has constituted a very large part of the grand total in recent years, did not show as great gains, of course, as during the war years, but the line still is moving ahead, with a number of additional companies now in that field and the uuderwriting rules of several companies which had been active in group lines relaxed so as to allow the writing of groups down to 25, instead of the minimum of 50 as heretofore. Some companies showed decreases from the 1945 group totals, but others registered very decided increases. &dquo; With the returns still incomplete, and certain to be increased when all companies are heard from, the grand aggregate for 1946 for insurers of all classes was $850,327,004 as compared with $723,434,026 in 1945. &dquo; The stock company premium total was $518,867,766 as compared with $457,577, 270 in 1945. Mutual companies, not includIng hospital associations, had premiums of $158,155,610, as against $110,81 g,717 in 1945. Blue Cross plans added $154,809,687 to the premium total. , &dquo; The 1946 total for group accident and health and hospitalz2ation for all classes of carriers, also with some companies not yet reported, shows a promium volume of $238,064,530 and losses of $155,285,405.&dquo; &dquo;Further Accident-Health Premium Gains in 1946,&dquo; Accident and Health Review 40:11 1 April, 1947 ..~..
