Colour printer control method

Abstract: The method involves generating image signals for reproducing the printed image using an image acquisition device. Colour measurement values are determined from the image signals at a number of measurement points and control signals for colour setting devices derived by comparison with demand values. The colour measurement values are transformed into a defined colour space and the distribution of colour points in the colour space determined. The colour points of the probable colours (C,M,B,Y) are derived from the distribution signals and compared with the colour points preselected by the operator. A signal generated if the colour separation resulting from the comparison exceeds a defined level drives a display containing information for the operator that the selected rules probably do not correspond with the colours used.
