TL;DR: In this paper, a coding and decoding method for three-dimensional object data is proposed, which comprises a tree structure generation part 1100 which generates 3D object data of tree structure with labels representing the type of nodes; a merging order selection part 1110 which refers to the labels to merge the pieces of 3D objects of tree structures; node coding part 1120 which codes the merged nodes; and bit stream generation part 1130 which generates data of which the node is coded, as a bit stream.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coding and decoding methods for three-dimensional object, and to provide a device for the methods. SOLUTION: A coding device for three-dimensional object data comprises a tree structure generation part 1100 which generates three-dimensional object data of tree structure with labels representing the type of nodes; a merging order selection part 1110 which refers to the labels to merge the pieces of three-dimensional object data of tree structure; a node coding part 1120 which codes the merged nodes; and a bit stream generation part 1130 which generates data of which the node is coded, as a bit stream. Method and apparatus for processing a video signal
Seungwook Park,Joonyoung Park,Jungsun Kim,Younghee Choi,Yongjoon Jeon,Jaewon Sung,Byeongmoon Jeon,Jaehyun Lim +7 more
- 04 May 2011
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for encoding or decoding a video signal using a merging mode in which prediction information on a neighbor unit is used instead of transmitting prediction on the present unit, so as to improve coding efficiency.

- 13 Apr 2011
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors define a relative locational relationship between simply connected regions and a set of spatially neighboring regions, which are then merged to form the plurality of simply connected region regions.

Inter-plane prediction
Martin Winken,Heiner Kirchhoffer,Heiko Schwarz,Detlev Marpe,Thomas Wiegand +4 more
- 13 Apr 2010
TL;DR: In this article, a better rate distortion ratio is achieved by making interrelationships between coding parameters of different planes available for exploitation for the aim of redundancy reduction despite the additional overhead resulting from the need to signal the inter-plane prediction information to the decoder.

Inheritance in sample array multitree subdivision
Philipp Helle,Detlev Marpe,Oudin Simon,Thomas Wiegand +3 more
- 29 Jun 2016
TL;DR: In this article, a better compromise between encoding complexity and achievable rate distortion ratio is achieved by using multitree sub-divisioning not only in order to subdivide a continuous area, namely the sample array, into leaf regions, but using the intermediate regions also to share coding parameters among the corresponding collocated leaf blocks.

Coding of a spatial sampling of a two-dimensional information signal using sub-division
Heiner Kirchhoffer,Martin Winken,Philipp Helle,Detlev Marpe,Heiko Schwarz,Thomas Wiegand +5 more
- 28 Jun 2016
TL;DR: In this article, a coding scheme for coding a spatially sampled information signal using sub-division and coding schemes for coding an information signal with sub-and multi-tree structures are described.
